What's in a name - part 2: Choosing a title.

Finding the perfect name for your book can be a daunting task. For me, the initial title of Unspoken Legends was just kind of in my head from the start. I played around with variations of the name, a name for the series as a whole, and the names for the books to follow (I am planning this to be a trilogy at the moment with potential for spin off books).

I thought about similar book series' in the genre: The Twilight Saga (named for the first book), the Harry Potter series (named for the main character, whose name is included in each title) The Hunger Games series (named for the first book), the Mortal Instruments series and the Shadowhunter Chronicles (named for the first series of books and the main species of character). I have settled on calling my series The Malakim Series. Another thought I had was A Legend Among Myths, but that is a mouthful for a series name! That was a potential book title at one point.

For now, I am sticking with Unspoken Legends as book 1 of the Malakim Series with book 2 having the working title Whispered Myths and book 3 Retold Fables, which at one point had the working title The Lost Fable. That didn't fit with the first two book titles, so I changed it. Each title uses a form of communication in the title with the form becoming "louder" in succession (Unspoken, Whispered, Retold). The second half of each title is a name that can be used to describe folklore (Legends, Myths, Fables).
